TYPES AND DURATION OF VISAS

DEFINITION

It is required to apply for a national study visa when it’s necessary to stay in Spain for a period longer than 90 days in purpose to carry out some of the following activities:

  • Study or extend the already achieved studies
  • Make activities of investigation or training
  • Participate in students’ exchange programmes at any of the oficially accredited cientific or

educational institutions, public or privat.

  • Make internship
  • Carry out voluntary service

Duration of a study stay permit is equal to a duration of a course to which a student has been

  • matriculated. If a student is going to continue his studies for more time, he will be able to apply for

an extention of his stay permit.

PURPOSE OF A STUDY VISA IS NOT AN EMPLOYMENT

FAMILY MEMBERS

It is possible to apply for a visa for family members of students:

  • Spouse or common-law partner
  • Children under 18 years old or dependants on students

Parents of students under 18 years old can’t apply for this type of visa

Duration of a stay permit in Spain of family members would be the same as of a

  • student. If a period of stay is longer than 6 months, it is necessary to apply for a

student stay permit to the Migration Office within 1 month from coming to Spain. Family members of foreign students AREN’T ALLOWED TO WORK IN SPAIN.

APPLICATION PROCESS FOR A VISA

Less than 90 days

  • 1. It is mandatory to schedule an appointment on the web page of the Visa Center, on

the following link: https://blsspain-ukraine.com/ukrainian/index.php

  • 2. Submit personally the application to the Visa Center:

Kyiv, Obolonska 29 Street Building "B“, 2nd Floor, office 203

Note: It is possible to submit a visa application to the Consular Section by scheduling an appointment

  • n the web page of the Visa Center.

Children under 18 years old must come accompanied by one of the parents or by a legal guardian.

  • 3. Pay consular fee in cash and in UAH (1.112) at the moment of submission of an

application.

Longer than 90 days

  • 1. It is mandatory to schedule an appointment on the web page of the Visa

Center, on the following link: http://www.exteriores.gob.es/Embajadas/KIEV/

  • 2. Submit personally the application to the Consular Section of the Embassy of

Spain: Illinska Street, 22/13 D - KYIV Children under 18 years old must come accompanied by one of the parents or by a legal guardian.

  • 3. Pay consular fee in cash and in UAH (1.906) at the moment of submission of an

application.

DOCUMENTS TO PROVIDE: SCHENGEN VISAS (U (UP TO 90 DAYS)

Holders of biometric passports don’t need to apply for a visa. Holders of non-biometric passports must provide: Children under 18 years old must submit consent to travel from parents or legal guardian, and birth certificate.

FAMILY MEMBERS

Submit personally, at the same time as a student whom they want to accompany, or later. The documents to provide are the same as for a student. Besides, it is necessary to prove: 1) That a student whom they are going to accompany has enough funds to cover the expenses of all the family members who are going to stay in Spain. 2) Family ties documents. 3) If they submit the documents later than the student, they must also prove that a study stay permit of a student is valid.

UE MOBILITY

Foreign citizens who are studying in one

  • f the member states of the EU may

continue or extend the same studies in Spain without the need to get a visa. In order to do that, they must apply for a stay permit at the Migration Office of the province in Spain where they are going to study.

CHILDREN IN PURPOSE OF SCHOOL ATTENDANCE

VISA FOR THE APPLICANTS UNDER 18 YEARS OLD WHO ARE GOING TO STUDY IN SPAIN AND ARE FINANCED BY STATE ADMINISTRATIONS OR BY ENTITIES OR PERSONS WHO ARE NEITHER THEIR PARENTS NOR LEGAL GUARDIANS.

  • It’s obligatory to obtain previous consent of local state authorities.
  • Written commitment of a receiving party that the purpose of stay of an applicant is not his

adoption, and obligation to provide the return of a child to a country of his origin.

  • Parents of an applicant must give a notary consent for his stay in Spain.
  • Letter of acceptance from an educational institution which is offcially recognised in Spain
