are paramount. Our decision making is driven entirely by what is best for children. By doing this we enhance the life chances of the children and young people in our care. Rob Tarn, CEO

Purpose of the system
1. To place the focus on the learning 2. To place the emphasis on the positive 3. To provide a consistent whole school approach to behaviour. 4. To implement a system where failing to meet Expectations has consequences, and positive behaviour results in praise. 5. Responsibility for behaviour lies with students.

What it is… and isn’t!
It is…
- A solution to low-level disruption in classrooms
- A system which puts responsibility for behaviour with students
- Watertight
- Clear about the expectation of the teacher’s role, head of
department’s/DoL’s role and the role of the senior team
- Never going away
It isn’t…
- A focus of our daily discussions – learning and achievement are
- A ‘get out of jail free card’ for poor classroom management, weak
planning or poor delivery
- To be used to deal with serious incidents

Some terms used in this presentation
Matrix room – A room where students are sent for the remainder of a lesson. Timetabled by the department or a group of small departments Expectations Gatekeeper – The member of support staff who administrates the system Supervision room – An internal room where students are sent for either a full day or the remainder of a teaching period
Outcomes Focused, Child Centred
- Students are told the ”rule and reminder” before
being issued with first consequence…
- First misbehaviour -Verbal warning C1
- Second misbehaviour -Verbal warning C2
- Third misbehaviour - Final warning C3
Outcomes Focused, Child Centred
- Fourth misbehaviour- student will be sent to
another class - C4 - results in a 60m department detention on night selected by department.
- Fifth misbehaviour –will result in supervision - C5
in the “Supervision Room” for the remainder of that lesson plus on the day following the C5 student will be supervised all day
- Sixth misbehaviour – Principal/Executive Principal
- involved. Student receives either a C5B supervision
- r is excluded C6 for fixed period

Recording the process
- All C4 & C5 incidents will be recorded on a student’s
record… warnings and C1-3 are not recorded
- Names are displayed on the Expectations white board.
C1 C2 C3 C4 C5 L Walton
- When a consequence is given it will never be cancelled.

What happens if ?
- If a student refuses or continues to disrupt after a C4- results in a
C5 supervision
- If a student takes too long to get to matrix after a C4- results in a
C5
- If a student disrupts the matrix room- results in a C5
- If a student fails to go back to their teacher for the detention
letter- results in a C5
- If a student fails to attend a C4 detention - results in a C5
- If a student misbehaves during the C4 detention- results in a C5
- If the student is absent on the day of a C4 detention or the C5
Supervision, it is the student’s responsibility to attend the detention/Supervision on his/her return to school. Detentions will roll over to the next week. Supervision is the first day back
- If a student fails to attend a detention/Supervision on the day of
return, results in a C5B or C6

The Supervision Room
- If you C5 yourself then you will be sent to the
Supervision Room (if during a lesson for failing matrix) for the rest of the lesson and then booked in for the whole of the next day
- If you miss a detention a call is made home and you are
booked in for the whole of the next day
- You do 8.35am to 3.45pm in the Supervision Room.
You collect food and take it to Supervision and eat in there too.
- The 3.45pm finish is so that you also do your C4
detention that you had initially too, but at the end of the day because you made it worse

The Supervision Room

Important shift in emphasis…
- Students will not be collected or chased into attending a
detention or Supervision
- If a student does not attend a detention or Supervision the
student will be issued with the next sanction
- Detentions and Supervisions override everything else-
intervention, enrichment, school sport
- Failure to attend Supervision will result in an exclusion C6,
- r a C5B Supervision where appropriate
- After several exclusions or in any case if a student reaches
45 days the student will be permanently excluded

be part of our Family of Schools ethos and will help all members of the Freebrough community to feel happier, achieve and seek excellence together.
