  • We are pleased to be able to provide this very positive news for Stratford

District Council.

  • The District benefits from a significant share of BDUK funding.
  • The district features in major elements of the first two phases of the roll-
  • ut of Superfast Broadband.
  • It is anticipated that approximately 47% of the targeted premises in

Stratford district will be upgraded to Next Generation Access during the first two phases.

  • The CSW Project Team have met all expected target dates from BDUK for

the management of this project.

  • BT is presently slightly ahead of expected target dates for survey and

deployment.

Investment

  • The total number of premises passed by the CSW Broadband project is 51,685 or

77% of the Intervention Area.

  • The number of premise in Stratford District that will be upgraded as a result of the

project is 21,614 which equates to 42% of the total number of premises in the CSW region being upgraded.

  • The Total Public Subsidy for the project throughout the region is £8,890,000. For

Stratford District the public investment is £3,317,638 (42% of total) of which BDUK is contributing £1,858,842.

  • The Local Authority investment in Stratford District is £1,858,842 of which

Warwickshire County Council are contributing £1,385,142 (75%) and Stratford District Council are contributing £463,700 (25%).

  • Warwickshire County Council is investing 46% of its overall contribution to the roll-
  • ut of Broadband in Stratford.

Phase 1 Roll-out

  • BT is planning to implement 52 cabinets as part of the Phase 1

roll-out throughout CSW. Of these 52 cabinets 31 are located in Stratford District and equate to approx. 7190 Total Homes Passed (THP), or 33% of the premises in the Stratford District to be upgraded as part of the project.

  • Surveys of these 31 cabinets have been completed and build

work has commenced. According to the Implementation Plan installation for the Phase 1 cabs is scheduled to be completed by June 2014 and ready for service by September 2014.

Phase 2 Roll-out

  • BT is planning to implement another 52 cabinets as part of the Phase 2

roll-out throughout CSW. Of these 52 cabs 9 are located in the Stratford District and equate to approx. 3070 THP, or 14% of the premises to be upgraded as part of the project.

  • Surveys for these cabinets has started and the installation work is

expected to be completed by September 2014 with the cabinets ready for service by December 2015.

  • It is anticipated that approx. 47% of the targeted premises in Stratford

district will be upgraded to Next Generation Access in the first two phases.

  • There are seven NGA implementation phases planned for the project.

Caveats

  • This information comes with the health warning that telecoms

infrastructure does not cover postcodes and therefore what is actually delivered is likely to change from what is shown. For instance, we have already identified that some postcodes are served by a number of existing cabinets, and that some existing cabinets serve a number of different postcodes.

  • Therefore the footprint of properties that will achieve

superfast broadband is likely to differ from the postcode information that is given on this map.

Further Funding

  • The government has announced funds of £3.68m to take

superfast broadband coverage up to 95% throughout CSW (our current project will achieve 91%)

  • This is only available through match funding.
  • We are actively investigating any and all other funding

sources, and have recently made submission through the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership European Structural Investment Funds Strategy for a total of £7.85m.

Future Planning

  • The initial BDUK/CSW project is due to complete

2016.

  • Current information available to CSW indicates that

9,007 premises in Stratford District are awaiting further funding for Superfast Connectivity.
