Targets and Actions so far…

4 Barriers to the implementation of the project:

  • Timely access to project funding
  • Regulatory framework – procedures
  • Lack of sufficient experience in the RES Biomass sector in Cyprus for ‘industrial’

purposes.

  • Lack of technical aspects knowledge by Municipal staff – need for greater information

and training. Benefits for the community:

  • Increased awareness and promotion of RSEs
  • Continuous free access to the Municipal swimming-pools during winter
  • Readily available wood-chips (energy and cost efficiency) to be bought from the

Municipality?? Lessons learnt

  • To consult as many energy specialists/researchers prior to private owners

involvement.

  • To maintain clear facts about costs and Municipality’s financial potential, to avoid

lengthly discussions and tension.
