Our elevator pitch Future Commons is a facilitation, support, and mobilization partnership that promotes systemic change towards Open and FAIR scholarly communication within and across disciplinary, regional, and sectoral silos. Its methods fall into four main categories: 1. Scaling up (encouraging people to share and or scale up innovations so that they cut across more than one silo) 2. Specifying down (encouraging people to discover innovations outside their silo and adapt them so that they work in their silo) 3. Critical engagement (considering where Open and FAIR science is not fractal--being sensitive to meaningful distinctions that prevent uniform adoption; being sensitive of populations or conditions that could lead to Open and FAIR scholarly comm being harmful) 4. Dissemination and mobilization (i.e. making sure that the best research and ideas get sent out there for people working at research and users to use)
Our elevator pitch Finally, it does this through a number of activities: 1. Mobilization and dissemination 2. Incubation (i.e. helping people with ideas get the contacts and opportunities they need to spread) 3. Facilitation and Networking (bringing the right people together across those silos) 4. Direct research Some specific projects: ● FSCI ● One or more workshops or seminars? ● Some kind of summit of Open Science organizations? ● ???
