Founded in 1891, the Washington State Historical Society partners with our communities to explore how history connects us all. The Historical Society offers a variety of services to researchers, historians, scholars, and lifelong learners, as well as operating the State History Research Center and the Washington State History Museum. The Women's History Consortium is a Washington State Historical Society-led initiative dedicated to preserving and making available resources about Washington women’s history. During the 2018 legislative session, the Governor’s Women’s Commission was established to improve the well being of women by assisting them in obtaining governmental services, promoting equal compensation and supporting fairness in employment.
