4 Cylindrical Continuous Pan Presentation

A new continuous pan has been developed by Tongaat Hulet in 2008. This new patented design consist of two stacked calandrias stacked inside a cylindrical vessel . Three new CCVP has been installed in Mozambique in year 2008-2009 consist of

  • 1 set of A pan 120 m3
  • 2 set of A,B pan 100 m3

New continuous pan technology More steam saving in pan boiling Can be installed in existing batch pan position Smaller footprint than horizontal pan Design can accommodate: ➢ Two separate massecuite grades in one pan ➢ Use of different grades of vapor in a single pan ➢ On-the-run boilout of pan. Improved circulation characteristics

➢ The wet cake (Calcium carbonate cake ) from sugar refinery is the solid waste which need to dispose in the specific area under the law/regulation of each country. ➢ The composition of wet cake consist of Calcium carbonate ( 65-70 %), water ( 30- 35 % ), organic matters, etc. ➢ SUTECH Rotary lime kiln is mainly used for “Calcining” the wet cake from sugar refinery to produce calcium oxide and reuse in Liming of Carbonation system. ➢ Wet cake is calcined in rotary kiln at temperature 900 to 1,200 degree C. water vapor(H2O) and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) will be released from kiln.

LACTIC ACID

25 Lactic Acid Presentation

➢ Lactic acid (CH3CH(OH)COOH) is an organic acid that can be produced by fermentative

  • r

chemical

  • synthesis. The production by fermentation process

has attracted interest due to its advantages, lower cost compared with chemical synthesis.

slide-26

LACTIC ACID

26 Lactic Acid Presentation

➢ There are many cheap and renewable raw materials used for lactic acid production, such as

  • raw sugar

molasses,

  • cassava,

wheat ,corn,potato, rice

  • lignocelluloses
  • and others.

LACTIC ACID “ PRODUCTION STUDY ” FROM CANE MOLASSE

31 Lactic Acid Presentation

➢ The study of Lactic acid production from cane molasses in laboratory is done by Suranaree University of technology in Thailand. The study consist

  • f bacteria screening, fermentation & HPLC analysis. The study will be

finished in 2019 and will continue with scale-up project with Sutech in year 2020 to develop the equipment and preliminary engineering design parameters for fermentation and purification.
