Provides basic infrastructure for the office

 Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program (SHIP)

($171,000 federal grant) – Assist small rural hospitals

with quality and operational improvement efforts.

 Rural Hospital Flexibility Program (FLEX)

($460,000 federal grant) – Specifically targets CAHs

 Rural Health Networks ($500,000 state appropriation) –

Increase use of rural hospitals; create provider networks

 Local Health Councils ($1,000,000 state appropriation) –

Health evaluation, analysis, planning; CON

Florida’s Rural Health Providers

 29 statutorily designated rural hospitals

(23 in rural counties and 6 in the rural portions of urban counties)
