  2. 2016 HTH FL Boot Camp State Office of Rural Health (SORH) • Clearinghouse for information on rural health care issues • Research findings relating to rural health care and innovative approaches to the delivery of rural health care • Coordinate rural health care activities to avoid duplication • Provide technical assistance to public and nonprofit private entities • Encourage the recruitment and retention of health professionals in rural areas • Strengthen State, Local and Federal partnerships in rural health SORH Programs & Grants  State Office of Rural Health ($172,950 federal grant) – Provides basic infrastructure for the office  Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program (SHIP) ($171,000 federal grant) – Assist small rural hospitals with quality and operational improvement efforts.  Rural Hospital Flexibility Program (FLEX) ($460,000 federal grant) – Specifically targets CAHs  Rural Health Networks ($500,000 state appropriation) – Increase use of rural hospitals; create provider networks  Local Health Councils ($1,000,000 state appropriation) – Health evaluation, analysis, planning; CON Florida’s Rural Health Providers  29 statutorily designated rural hospitals (23 in rural counties and 6 in the rural portions of urban counties)  153 rural health clinics  30 rural county health departments  31 rural community health center sites  43 rural EMS provider agencies 2
