Virtual Learning Schedule Continues through 5/14

  • Schedule includes daily live classes and daily teacher office hours
  • Live sessions are encouraged for maximum experience
  • All live sessions are recorded and posted on teachers’ google classrooms
  • If a student can’t attend the live, he/she should watch the recording before

submitting assignments to receive the instruction first

  • There are daily assignments for each class which are graded and entered in

IC

  • Office hours allow students to get questions answered, practice more with the

teacher, and get additional teacher support and help

  • Fridays are “make up” days with no new assignments or live classes
  • Teachers have scheduled office hours each Friday and daily at 4:00

Last week of school is 5/18-5/22

  • During this week, school is still in session
  • However, we will try to mirror the activities we would be doing if we were

physically at school and make it a fun week

  • There will not be new assignments this week
  • We will focus on the social emotional side of ending the school year with our

students

  • Looking for ideas, so please share them in the chat if you have ideas for

virtual fun that week for our students! I will address 8th grade more specifically later in this session.

  • Last new assignments will be given the week of 5/11.
  • Last day to submit work for credit will be 5/15.

Grades

  • Students can submit work at any time for full credit/no late penalty.
  • They must submit work on google classroom directly to their teacher.
  • They can always email the work to the teacher if they have a glitch with

google classroom.

  • Currently there is an “M” in the gradebook for “missing” if an assignment has

not yet been submitted and/or graded.

  • All “M”s will be removed by next Friday, May 1st. Students may still submit

these assignments for credit to raise their grade, but will NOT be penalized if they do not.

For final year-end grades/report cards:

Students will receive THE HIGHER GRADE OF EITHER:

  • Their 3rd quarter grade OR
  • Their final cumulative grade

If their 3rd quarter grade is higher than their final cumulative grade on May 15, the teacher will override the cumulative grade and input the 3rd quarter grade as the final grade. In other words, no student will receive a grade decline as a result of virtual learning.

slide-7
SLIDE 7

For students with failing grades at 3rd quarter

  • Teachers are to invite these students individually to office hours to work on

their deficit skills and to provide additional practice opportunities to give them additional chances to improve their grade.

  • All teachers are to make it their goal of providing individualized help to

prevent failure.

slide-8
SLIDE 8

For all students

  • Teachers are encouraged to provide “extra credit” opportunities for students to

engage in that could benefit their grade.

  • Teachers may give “participation” grades to students who attend live sessions
  • r office hours which can benefit their grades.
