Siegwerk works to increase bio-renewable content in each ink component.

Biorenewable content of Ink

* Measurement of Bio renewable C Content currently ongoing according to ASTM6866

5

Discussion around definition of renewable content in the ink is maturing with adoption of ASTM 6866 becoming more widespread. This method measures renewable carbon content based on C14 measurement.

Ensuring the ink has a minimum impact at the end of life of the pacakge Siegwerk ensures that at the end of life of the product, the impact of the ink on the compost-ability of the package is minimised. Unibase and Uni T Concentrate series have been tested for their impact on compost-ability. Using selected colour indices with appropriate Technical Varnishes allows “OK compost” requirements to be fulfilled. Compost-ability
