SOLUTION?

(a) Installing an extremely expensive desulphurization plant, or : (b) Introducing cost-effective CHINCO for Sulphur [SOx] & [NOx] reduction + (c) Creating improved coal combustion + (d) CHINCO modifies/increases the coal AFT by changing the ratio of acidic to basic components in the ash + (e) Small quantities of CHINCO are sufficient to alter the surface properties of the ash reducing clinker deposits.

HOW DOES CHINCO WORK?

CHINCO reduces SO3 and smoke emissions through the smoke stack by catalytically reducing the SO2 in the coal to harmless sulfates/salts. [Mn + O2 + SO2 = MnSO4] This in turn is dumped as ash and not released as emissions through the smoke stack as is usually the case. The improved combustion reduces the net coal requirement to produce the same steam output. Several comparative tests also indicate the cleaning effect inside the boilers as well as vastly improved black smoke emissions through the stacks.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

 Chinco enhances combustion, improving boiler efficiency by reducing the carbon in ash after combustion.  Reduces net fuel costs  Carbon in Bottom ash at Rooiwal Power Station reduced from 1.97% to 0.72% by using Chinco.  Boiler Efficiency improved by 1.25%.  Major reduction in Sulphur/smoke emissions!

WHY DOES IT WORK?

 Chinco has a high specific surface area value and a high environmental pollutant removal performance. It is useful in the absorption and oxidation/removal of the odour components discharged from the stacks such as NOx, SOx, VOC, together with unburned components, hydrocarbons, aldehydes and the like which are generated by incomplete combustion.  Ash fusion temperature is raised resulting in a more friable compound instead of the very hard ‘molten-clinker’

  • formation. This is more easily removed with soot blowers.

 Less ‘’heat-transfer-insulating-firewall-deposits’’ and thus improved long term heat transfer, between shutdowns.

BENEFITS OF IMPROVED COMBUSTION:

 Less soot blowing needs to be done due to improved- cleaner combustion process. This saves wasted energy in requiring less steam production for soot blowing.  Reduction of particulate emissions.  Improved combustion means less carbon in ash thus less handling and disposal of ash.  Chinco improves precipitator efficiency by causing more particles becoming positively charged and hence increases removal rates
