Methods.

Retrospective analyses of cataract surgery evolution for Estonia, Latvia and prostective for Lithuania was performed. First study on Eye health care services in eastern Europe was performed 1998, second – 2003 year.

Results.

The cataract surgery rate in 1998, 2003, and 2006 was:

  • Estonia 2530, 6123 and 7700

  • Latvia 1860, 2921 and 5000

(personal communication with prof. G. Laganovska)

  • Lithuania 1550, 2502 and 3800
