Itinerary - 8th Grade Trip

Tuesday April 16th

  • 6:30 am

Drop-off (front circle or HBMMS)

  • 7:00 am All motor coaches depart for Boston. Enjoy your brown bag

lunch en-route, brought from home

  • 11:30 am Arrive at the Science Museum
  • 1:30 pm Load busses and depart for Quincy Market
  • 2:15 pm Meet tour guides for Freedom Trail tour
  • 4:30 pm Return to Quincy Market. Enjoy dinner with a meal voucher and

visit shops

  • 5:45 pm

Load busses and depart for Holiday Inn and Suites, Peabody

  • 6:30 pm

Check into hotel and freshen up

  • 8:00 pm

Student Entertainment ○ (Game Show with Glow in the Dark Dance Party, Snacks)

  • 10:30 pm Room Check-In
  • 10:30 pm Security reports for overnight supervision

  • 11:00 am Load busses and depart for Harvard Square
  • 12:00 pm Lunch in Harvard Square with $15 cash allocation
  • 1:30 pm Guided tour of Harvard University
  • 2:15 pm Load busses and depart for MIT
  • 2:45 pm Tour campus of MIT
  • 3:30 pm Depart for Mattlin Middle School
  • 6:00 pm Fast food stop en route (bus drivers discretion)
  • 9:45 pm Estimated time of arrival

Suggested Packing List Recommended items students should bring with them:

  • comfortable clothing for 2 days (2 Mattlin shirts will be provided)
  • 1 dressy/casual outfit for party (appropriate school attire)
  • sleepwear
  • toiletries
  • books, quiet games, videos for bus rides
  • snacks for the bus and room
  • lunch on Day 1 and money for dinner on Day 2

Optional Items:

  • spending money for snacks, souvenirs

Important Notes: ** Any medication (prescription and non-prescription) must be given to the nurse prior to boarding the bus. ** do not send your children with a lot of money, expensive video games, expensive jewelry or excessive luggage.

Room, Bus & Chaperone Assignments

Room Assignments: Based upon information collected and availability. Bus Assignments: Blue, Red, Green or Yellow Chaperone Assignment: Students assigned to a chaperone for the entire trip. Students will be placed in approximate groups of 12 students. Each chaperone will utilize the Remind App for communication.

Overview of Expectations

✓ Field trips are an extension of the school day. ✓ Cell phones and other electronic devices will be permitted. ✓ “Prohibited Student Conduct” included for your reference. ✓ “Student Dress Code” included for your reference. ✓ Students must sleep in their assigned rooms. ✓ Chaperone must be notified of your whereabouts at all times. ✓ Students must attend all mandatory activities and meal functions. ✓ P.R.I.D.E. ✓ Comply with the instructions of all school personnel.

Medication Procedures

  • 1. All requests for administration of medication (both prescription and non-prescription)

must be signed by a parent, and be accompanied by a dated, signed, and stamped physician order. The physician order, and container MUST have specific directions that

  • match. This includes time to be given, doseage, and number of tablets to be given.

Each medication to be given MUST have an individual order, and its own container. Siblings and or friends cannot share medications(Inhalers, EpiPens, Tylenol, etc.).

  • 2. All medication(both prescription and non-prescription) must be in original labeled

container, and be dropped off with the school nurse by Friday, April 5, 2019.

  • 3. Medication that is a controlled substance MUST be brought to the nurse by a parent,

counted and signed for.

  • 4. Medication MUST be picked up from the Health Office upon return or it will be

discarded on or about May 3, 2019.

  • 5. STUDENTS MAY NOT PACK ANY MEDICATION IN THEIR SUITCASE
