AP EXAM BASICS

Exams determine level of understanding and establish a baseline for how much college credit is given. The length of each exam varies by subject. All exams will be held on pre-assigned dates in May. You are only allowed to take an exam for a given subject once in a year.

REALITY CHECK:

NOT EVERY COLLEGE OFFERS CREDIT FOR QUALIFYING EXAM SCORES, AND SOME PROGRAMS WILL STILL REQUIRE YOU TO TAKE ALL CLASSES THAT ARE MAJOR-SPECIFIC, EVEN IF YOU RECEIVED AP CREDIT.

For All Students: Base exam fee = $97

  • For NMSI Students:

First lifetime exam = $3 (free) Second, third, and fourth lifetime exams = $50 (half)

  • For Students on Free/Reduced Lunch:

Art & Social Studies exams = $53 Up to four NMSI exams = Free

All exam orders will have a $1.75 administrative fee added on to the total amount.

Example: You are taking 2 exams this year. AP Stats is your second lifetime NMSI exam, so that will cost $50. The

  • ther exam is AP Psych, which will cost $97. Including

the $1.75 administrative fee, your total bill for the two exams will be $148.75.

Registration closes on March 1st. If you do not register today, you MUST register by this deadline. Late registration will NOT be accepted.

EXAM ACCOMMODATIONS

If you have a documented disability and you receive accommodations through an IEP or 504, you may be eligible for accommodations

  • n exam day.

All accommodations must be approved through College Board. See Mrs. Sailer as soon as possible to get the request process started.

EXAM ACCOMMODATIONS

If you carry an EpiPen, you will need to keep it in a clear plastic bag under your desk on test day. If you have a condition that would require food or other medication to be kept with you, we will need to request permission for you to have it. You need to talk to Mrs. Sailer ASAP if this applies to you.

EXAM DAY

Exams are scheduled for May. Late exams are reserved for extenuating circumstances that prevent you from testing on the original date. Avoid scoring delays by entering correct information when you register for the exam. You will receive an AP number unique to you and the year you're testing. Do not allow other test-takers to use your number.

EXAM DAY

Pre-administration paperwork will be completed 15 minutes before each exam. For 8am exams, plan to arrive at 7:40 and start paperwork at 7:45. For 12pm exams, plan to arrive at 11:40 and start paperwork at 11:45. Please give yourself plenty of time to arrive in the morning. It is your responsibility to be here on time.
