  3. Back-to-School (B2S)Planning • A task force of 39 people met three times as a large group to discuss plans for back to school (June 11, 18, 25). Sub-committees met additional times, as needed. • The task force is made up of teachers, administrators, department heads, and district office staff. • Sub-committees continued planning through email or additional meetings. • AccelerateED draft and final recommendations were considered throughout process. • An input meeting with community medical personnel was held on June 29 th . • An input meeting with the Superintendent’s Parent Advisory group was held on June 30 th . • A meeting with faith-based leaders was held on July 7 th .

Medical Personnel Input • Referenced American Association of Pediatrics’ article and research • Discussed risk of exposure versus risk of not having students in school • Recommended masks for both teachers and students (not appropriate for some) • Recommended temperature checks at multiple times during the school day • Recommended limiting visitors in buildings

Parent Input • Siblings going on same day for transportation / childcare needs • Child care issues for days students are not in school • Having options for students/parents who don’t feel comfortable going back in-person • Options for advanced students as well as those who need remediation • More content than ELA and math • Tips for parents on how to facilitate at-home learning • Videos of lessons to review content with students

  27. School Options • Students in grades 4K to 12 come to the school building 1-4 days a week, depending on phase. Hybrid • On non-school building days students work on learning tasks at home with the support of teacher-created support materials. • Students receive all instruction virtually (at home) for a minimum of Virtual one semester under the guidance and direction of a local, certified teacher.

  28. Preparing for Phases • Students will be divided into six cohorts with a designated color. • Groups will allow ease and quick transition from one phase to the next, depending on status of virus. • Students will remain with same cohort to allow for ease of contact tracing. • Students within same household will be assigned the same cohort/color group to keep individuals on the same schedule.

  29. Phase Four • Normal school operations • All students come to the school building 5 days a week. • Social distancing is no longer a recommendation.

  30. Phase Three • Students in grades 2-12 attend school four days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday). • Students in grades PK-1 attend school five days a week. • Additional intensive cleaning occurs on Wednesday.

  31. Phase Two • Students attend two consecutive days a week (Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday). • Students in grades 4K-1 attend three days a week. • Additional intensive cleaning occurs on Wednesday. Examples: A student in the red group would attend on Monday and Tuesday. A kindergarten student in the red group would attend on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Phase One • Students would be assigned to one of six color groups • Two color groups would attend on Monday, Wednesday, & Friday • 4K-1 would attend on their assigned color day and additionally on Tuesday and Thursday. • Additional intensive cleaning will occur on Tuesday and Thursday. Examples: A student in the purple group would attend on Wednesday. A first grade student in the purple group would attend on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
