So, you are thinking about Export?

Why, who, where and how? – the fundamental questions.

How do you decide whether you are ready to export?

Besides what seem to be the obvious benefits in exporting do you know

  • Who your international customers are and what value you deliver to them – is the value

the same in different markets?

  • If your product is exportable? What duties/ regulations / compliance are there?
  • How you will choose and validate a market? Biggest is not necessarily the best.
  • About market entry planning – price, channels (direct/in-direct), IP?
  • Distributors or agents in market – how to identify and select the right model for you?
  • Logistics - how do you get your product to market?
  • Do you have the necessary resources including people and production?
  • Are you committed to export? What is your reason for looking at export, do you have a

long term view?

  • Whether you can finance it? What would a large export order mean to your existing NZ

business? What additional capital might you need?
