Arise, go to Nineveh, the great city, and cry against it, for their wickedness has come up before me. Jonah 1:2

The word of the LORD came to Jonah the second time… Jonah 3:1

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For the Son of Man did not come into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:16-17

God cares about me, God cares about me. God cares about you, every little thing, every part

God cares about you, God cares about you.

5The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth. 6When Jonah’s warning reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust. 7This is the proclamation he issued in Nineveh: “By the decree of the king and his nobles: Do not let people or animals, herds or flocks, taste anything; do not let them eat

  • r drink. 8But let people and animals be covered with sackcloth. Let everyone

call urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence. 9Who knows? God may yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish.” 10When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened.

But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will convict the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment:

But to Jonah this seemed very wrong, and he became angry. He prayed to the Lord, “Isn’t this what I said, Lord, when I was still at home? That is what I tried to forestall by fleeing to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity. Now, Lord, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live.” Jonah 4:1-3

But the Lord said, “You have been concerned about this plant, though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang up

  • vernight and died overnight.

And should I not have concern for the great city of Nineveh, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left—and also many animals?” Jonah 4:10-11

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth. But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the

  • ther cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your

coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the

  • ne who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from

you. You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet

  • nly your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do

that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matthew 5:38
