  2. Hebrews 6:1-3 Let us leave behind the elementary teaching about Christ and go forward to adult understanding. Let us not lay over and over again the foundation truths—repentance from the deeds which led to death, believing in God, baptism and laying-on of hands, belief in the life to come and the final judgment. No, if God allows, let us go on. J.B. Phillips New Testament 2

  5. Resurrection Of The Dead Job 14:12–15 So man lieth down , and riseth not : till the heavens be no more , they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave , that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me ! If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come . Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee : thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands. 5

  6. Resurrection Of The Dead John 11:23–25 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again . Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day . Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life : he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live : 6

  7. Resurrection Of The Dead Romans 10:8–9 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach ; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus , and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead , thou shalt be saved. 7

  8. Resurrection Of The Dead Acts 23:6–8 But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees , and the other Pharisees , he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question. And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided. For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection , neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both. 8

  9. Resurrection Of The Dead 1 Corinthians 15:12–18 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain , and your faith is also vain . Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised , your faith is vain ; ye are yet in your sins . Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished . 9

  10. Resurrection Of The Dead 2 Timothy 2:16–19 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; Who concerning the truth have erred , saying that the resurrection is past already ; and overthrow the faith of some. Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure , having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his . And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 10

  11. Interactive Bible Study Idea Read Acts Chapters 3 and 4 and discuss: -The Simplicity and Power of the message preached. -The Faith of the men that preached it. -How can we begin to emulate their actions? 11

  12. Resurrection Of The Dead Acts 4:1–4 And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them, Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead . And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide. Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand. 12

  13. Resurrection Of The Dead Acts 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead , even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. Acts 4:33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus : and great grace was upon them all. 13

  15. Resurrection Of The Dead Mark 12:18–20 Then come unto him the Sadducees , which say there is no resurrection ; and they asked him, saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man’s brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed. 15

  16. Resurrection Of The Dead Mark 12:24–25 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err , because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God? For when they shall rise from the dead , they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven. 16

  17. Resurrection Of The Dead 1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him . 17

  18. Resurrection Of The Dead 1 Corinthians 15:35–58 [35-40] But some man will say, How are the dead raised up ? and with what body do they come ? Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body. All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 18

  19. Resurrection Of The Dead 1 Corinthians 15:35–58 [41-46] There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead . It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit . Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 19

  20. Resurrection Of The Dead 1 Corinthians 15:35–58 [47-53] The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven . As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I shew you a mystery ; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible , and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 20

  21. Resurrection Of The Dead 1 Corinthians 15:35–58 [54-58] So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory . O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ . Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. 21
